Over the years, the garden has grown and Pete has been involved with planting, mulching, configuring and reconfiguring. He knows his plants and his trees and is easy to communicate with. From start to present, Pete's creative eye and judgment have made his work very distinct and appealing.

Pete is the lead designer at Birdsong Garden Design and has been working in the Carrboro/Chapel Hill area for two decades with over two hundred private clients.
Pete not only works with home owners but also designers, contractors, nurseries, small businesses, and restaurants. With a Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture and Horticulture from NC State and a Bachelor’s in Music from the University of Virginia, Pete’s creative designs can be seen all over the Triangle. He is an effective communicator, takes the time to walk through client’s desires, and promotes native plant and ecological design education.
What sets Pete apart, however, is his dedication to quality, detailed design plans shared with each client (some have even been framed!). Examples of some of these plans can be seen here.
In his spare time, Pete is a recording artist and performer as well as a craftsman – particularly of hand-crafted paper from a variety of plant material.
